on Free Wallpaper Collection - Content and Use
This free wallpaper is part of a collection of artwork and
paintings encompassing a variety of artists and styles. They range from the 16th Century Renaissance
works of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo to the 19th Century Impressionist paintings of
Monet, Cezanne and others. The Expressionist paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Paul
Gauguin are passionate and the works of William Bouguereau are pure
class. Look at a few of his
paintings and you will be hooked. The
majority of the paintings being displayed here are by the
following artists. Vincent van Gogh - Dali - Paul Cezanne -
William Bouguereau - Leonardo Da Vinci - Michelangelo - Picasso -
Matisse - Manet - Renoir - Monet - Rousseau - Gauguin - also included
are a Vincent Van Gogh Biography and a Leonardo da Vinci biography. A few works by other
artists are also displayed. See note at the bottom of this section to
use these images as free screensavers. Images may be added based on visitor
requests.
In
all cases, every effort has been made to ensure that each desktop
wallpaper is generated from a high resolution, high
quality graphic to eliminate distortion. In
some cases this was no small effort, a few cases requiring a
visit to the museum that owns the artwork, trusty digital camera in
hand, and getting an original image. One free wallpaper, Irises in a Vase by
Vincent van Gogh, not only required a trip to a museum, but to a museum a
full country away. To an optimist, simply a good excuse to take a
trip to New York and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Central
Park. Another required a trip to Paris - Tough tasks but I forced
myself to do it...
A
free wallpaper is just that - free. These images are here to be enjoyed
and appreciated but they are for private, non-profit, and single user
viewing only. We simply ask that the images be saved to the hard drives
of the computers being used for these purposes and then accessed
locally, otherwise the bandwidth usage on this site get excessive and
prevents other users from being able to sign on due to volume
overload. Please note: These images are not to be used
by Community or Blog sites including, but not limited to, My Space, Live
Journal, or Xanga. This use is specifically prohibited. As
mentioned, this site is designed for private, single computer use only.
Hot-linking directly to images using code to download the image to a
community site whenever a community member's page is accessed is
strictly prohibited. More than a few middle school classes have stared
at a blank screen on our site because someone in a chat room wanted a
'pretty picture' on their screen while they chatted. This is not our
purpose or goal.
If you wish to display an image on
your personal web site after saving it to your hard drive or server, feel free to do so, but place a Text Hyperlink back to this site
immediately below the image and label it "Courtesy of
KensFavorites.com". Beyond that, Enjoy...
In addition, we've added access to wallpapers of
Photo Art to complement our usual classic paintings. Worry not! We're not
sending you into Porn Hell with the Pop-Ups, Ads, or all of that other
nonsense. As always, no gimmicks, no tricks, just art. This site will
remain basically the same as always, with the option of accessing the Free
Photo Art for use as wallpapers, or just simple viewing. I must say, the
works we've found at Domai are elegant, tasteful and just plain beautiful. The
