Welcome
to Tom's Page
The following is a small collection of the Pictures and Histories of a
couple of aircraft and a carrier commissioned during WWII. I became
interested after hearing a few first person stories and seeing a couple programs about
these planes recently.
Subjects
The aircraft that Tom spent most of his piloting hours in are the Grumman Hellcat
fighter and the Grumman Avenger TBM
Torpedo Bomber. The Carrier
is the CVE-120 USS Mindoro.
Graphics
All of the graphics shown here have been pulled from the web. The
pictures are from sites which have granted usage permission to other non

appreciate access to the graphics, so If any individual feels their
rights have been infringed upon, please let me know, and I will comply
with your wishes immediately, whether it be linking the pictures to your
site, or giving additional written credit. Our intent here is simply to inform the curious and share the memories of and with the people that were there.
Note Re: Format
Trying to make life easy for the majority, the visual layout has been
optimized for
the 1024 by 768 screen resolution, which has become pretty
much the standard these days. If your resolution is set lower, like 800 by
600, you may find that some of the info moves off the right of the screen
as may happen with many sites these days, not just this one. You can still
get to it by scrolling, but the 1024 by 768 resolution makes things
cleaner on most web sites. The exception to this would
be if you have a laptop or a desktop with a smaller screen. Then again, on
the other hand, I hear those Blazing new G4 Mac laptops not only can
handle them, but prefer the higher resolution....
